Conference, 27 June 2018

The researcher gave a talk at the 3rd Joint AIC-SILS conference (Rome, June 25-28 2018) presenting the experimental approach and some results of the project at the session entitled Methodological and experimental developments in crystallography and synchrotron techniques (MS4). The oral contribution was granted before the end of the project.

Seminar, 18 May 2018

The scientific case and experimental approach were presented to the interested staff of the Diamond synchrotron light source during an experimental session (16-21 May, Oxford, UK).

Seminar, 20 April 2018

A seminar was given by the researcher at the Secondment institute (Scansetti centre) in Turin (Seminar title: Combining synchrotron radiation phase-contrast and fluorescence nanotomography to reveal the morphology and elemental composition of biological samples: the case of asbestos bodies). The seminar focused on the X-ray imaging techniques used during the project. The main results of the project were also presented.

School, April 2018

A talk on advanced synchrotron-based tomography techniques applied to biological samples was given by the researcher at the International School of Nanomedicine (3rd Course: “Nanofluidics, Nanoimaging and Nanomanipulation”, held in Erice (Italy) the 5-11 of April. The course focuses on the state-of-the-art techniques and advanced biophysical methods related to Nanomedicin. Results of phase-contrast and fluorescence tomographic data acquired at the European synchrotron were presented as a case study during the talk.

Conference, October 2017

The researcher gave a talk about asbestos fibers studied by synchrotron radiation techiques at the Biomedicine and Biophysics session at the FisMat-2017 conference held in Trieste (Italy) the 1-5 October.

Conference, August 2017

The first results of this project have been presented with an oral presentation at the next Goldschmidt conference in Paris (13-18 August, 2017) in the session 13k: Medical geochemistry — geological context, toxic element uptake and health effects. The abstract can be read in the Reporting section.

School, June 2017

The researcher has been invited to give a lecture at the European Mineralogical Union School (June, 19-23, Modena, Italy) about the potentiality of the combination of synchrotron radiation fluorescence and phase contrast tomography techniques for the study of mineral fibers.

Meeting, September 2016

The researcher presented the project and the experimental approach at the final COST meeting in the session WG3 - X-ray coherent and incoherent imaging diagnostics (Semptember 19-21, Athens). (the researcher exploited a two-month short term scientfic mission (STSM) at the host institute before the start of the fellowship in the framework of the COST-MP1203. The STSM was granted before the notification of the MCSA grant).
